Downtown Greeley Cut Gas Line

Around 15:00 on April 3rd, 2019 Weld County Regional Communications Center alerted Greeley Fire Department Engine 1 and Ladder 1 to respond on 8th St. in downtown Greeley for a reported gas line leak. Upon arrival companies made contact with ATMOS Energy who advised a contractor had cut a gas line and they were working on shutting down meters to businesses in the area. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 went to work evacuating nearby business. Additional resources were dispatched to assist in scene control and to have adequate resources in the event of a fire. The area remained closed off to the public until the line was was repaired by ATMOS.  GFD units remained on scene until the hazard was mitigated and then coordinated with Greeley Police Department to allow the public back into the area.
