West Metro Chimney Fire

At 19:20 on October 10th, 2019 West Metro Fire Rescue was alerted to a structure fire in the 11000 block of W. Saratoga Pl. in unincorporated Jefferson County. Engine 12 arrived to a two-story medium size single-family residential with light smoke showing from the chimney, and pulled a 1 3/4 line in for fire attack with Medic 12 in the offensive strategy. Engine 13 secured the water supply, and Truck 14 laddered the Delta side and checked for extension. District 2 arrived and took command in the Alpha-Delta corner, with all occupants out of the structure. Crews rescued 2 family dogs out of the home, and crews found fire in the attic. Tower 8 pulled a 2nd line for fire attack to the Alpha side, and Rescue 10 assisted Medic 12 on the second floor. Engine 11 worked fire attack on the Delta side exterior, and Medic 10 assigned as medical group. The fire was put under control at 19:57 and crews started an extended overhaul. Two people were home when the fire started, and smoke alarms alerted them to the fire. There were no reported injuries.
