West Metro Garage Fire

At 04:47 on August 16th, 2019 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported detached garage on fire in the 400 block of S. Nelson St. in Lakewood. Engine 3 arrived to a fully involved garage in the back of a small one-story single-family residential, and pulled a 2 1/2 line in for fire attack in the defensive strategy with Medic 3. Medic 2 pulled a 1 3/4 line in for structure protection on the residential structure. Engine 4 arrived and established a water supply to Engine 3, and District 2 arrived and assumed Nelson command on the Alpha-Delta corner. Engine 2 arrived and assigned as primary search, which was all-clear. Crews reported live wires down, and Command requested Xcel to the scene. Medic 3 reassigned as medical group and Engine 4 as RIT. Crews got the fire under control and out at 05:09 and started overhaul. The cause is under investigation and no reported injuries.
