Larimer County House Fire

At approximately 03:23 on August 24th, 2019 Loveland Fire Rescue Authority (LFRA), Thompson Valley EMS (TVEMS), and Poudre Fire Authority (PFA) were dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 7800 block of Costigan Ave. in unincorporated Larimer County. Prior to arrival of fire units, a Larimer County Sheriff’s Deputy on scene reported two people trapped inside, additionally two occupants had made it out of the structure. LFRA Engine 5 arrived on scene to a one-story home with heavy fire from the front, conducted a 360, and pulled the 1st line for fire attack. PFA Battalion Chief 2 arrived on scene and took incident command. PFA Engine 14 was assigned water supply and 2nd attack line. LFRA Rescue 2 arrived and were assigned rescue and located a VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search) opportunity on Charlie side of the structure. LFRA Engine 1 crew redeployed to the Charlie side to provide VEIS protection. LFRA Rescue 2 searched two bedrooms, locating and removing one victim. LFRA Engine 2 arrived and was assigned the 3rd attack line. LFRA Engine 1 crew moved the victim from the Charlie side of the home to the Alpha side to a TVEMS crew, and LFRA Engine 1 became the Attack Group Supervisor. LFRA Battalion Chief 1 arrived and became the Incident Command Support Officer. A second victim was located after the fire was brought under control. Two victims were transported to a local hospital, two other victims did not survive. LCSO, LFRA and PFA investigators working on the origin and cause of the fire.
