Junk Yard Fire

At 11:50 on April 28th, 2019 Stratmoor Hills Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the 3700 block of Hwy. 85/87 to a reported vehicle fire. En route dispatched advised of a vehicle on fire in the yard and spreading to other vehicles. Engine 410 advised a large header from the station. Engine 410 with Engine 414 arrived on scene with several vehicles on fire, and started fire attack. Command 400 arrived and established command, and requested mutual-aid from Fort Carson Fire & Emergency Services. Security Fire Department Station 3 crew members spotted the large header from their station and sent Engine 113 to investigate. Crews were able to get water on the fire due to lack of water pressure, and the fire was called under control at 12:32, crews began to overhaul and searched for remaining hotspots throughout the 23 cars that were involved. At 12:43 the fire was called out by command and units began to go in service at 13:40.
