At 20:09 on November 21st, 2020 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a fire alarm activation at Courtney Downs Apartments, located at 15859 E. Jamison Dr. in Arapahoe County. While crews were responding, 911 callers reported water flowing and smoke in the building. First arriving Engine 42 found smoke in and around the large 3-story building and pulled a hose line for fire attack. The incident was upgraded to “confirmed structure fire” response, prompting the dispatch of additional personnel and apparatus. Firefighters located a small fire in a second-floor apartment that was controlled by the fire sprinkler system and quickly extinguished. All searches of the fire apartment were clear, and no one was injured. Although fire and smoke damage was minimal, a first-floor apartment directly below the fire unit was damaged by water. The South Metro Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. Additional information was provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
