Arapahoe County Garbage Fire

At 15:00 on December 25th 2020 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to several reports of heavy smoke coming from the top of DADS landfill, located at 3500 S. Gun Club Rd. in Arapahoe County. Engine 23 saw the plume of smoke from their station and additional resources were dispatched. Access to the scene was challenging and when crews arrived, they found a 25×25 foot area of garbage burning. Although there were no structures or property threatened, 2 Engines, a Brush Truck and Water Tender were needed to access and supply water for extinguishing the fire. No injuries occurred and the cause is undetermined. Additional information was provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
