Arvada Brush Fire

At 11:05 on July 25th, 2020 Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a reported grass fire in the area of W. 87th Dr. & Antero Ct. close the railroad tracks off Hwy. 72. in the Leyden Rock area. Engine 57 arrived to a light smoke showing south of the railroad tracks and staged at a hydrant from the Hwy. 72 side. Brush 57 accessed the brush fire on the Hwy. 72 side and Brush 58 arrived on the south of the fire. Battalion 51 arrived and setup command off the Leyden Rock side with active fire. Battalion 52 arrived and assumed command, and requested from JeffCom for train operations to shut down while crews worked by the tracks. Crews got the fire was extinguished quickly and started overhaul on hot spots. No structures were involved and no reported injuries. Xcel Energy was requested, and the cause of the fire was possibly a bird that was electrocuted. Additional information provided by Arvada Fire Protection District
