Aurora Apartment Fire

On December 18th, 2020 at 18:26 Aurora Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 1900 block of N. Peoria St. at Amber Ridge Apartments. Engine 3 arrived to a large five-story multi-family with nothing showing, and started the investigation. Engine 3 found heavy black smoke in a 5th floor apartment, and started fire attack with Engine 1 and Ladder 2. Battalion Chief 1 arrived and took over command. Ladder 5 went to the roof and opened it up, Engine 2 worked on the water supply and pulled a 2nd line to the 5th floor. Crews found fire in the attic, and command requested a 2nd alarm. Crews got the fire out and started an extended overhaul. American Red Cross was requested for 6 residents that were displaced and two units were impacted by fire. No injuries were reported and the fire cause is under investigation.
