On August 5th, 2020 at 08:56 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to numerous reports of a small fire burning in the grass between Parker Hills Ct. & Panorama Ct. in Douglas County. Upon arrival Battalion Chief 4 found approximately half an acre involved with flames spreading and structures nearby. While initial crews began containment efforts the response was upgraded to a “Large Brush Fire” and additional resources were dispatched. By 09:18 forward progress of the fire was stopped with no structures damaged and no injuries. The fire grew to nearly an acre before it was extinguished. Investigators found a deceased Red-tailed Hawk tangled in power lines above the burn area, it was electrocuted and started the fire. This is the second bird-caused vegetation fire in northern Douglas County in past week. Additional information was provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
