Grand Junction Apartment Fire

At 10:57 on January 31st, 2020 Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatched  by the Grand Junction Regional Communication Center to a reported residential structure fire in the 400 block of N. 6th St. An occupant on the second floor reported an odor of smoke and alarm activation. Crews arrived on scene and reported a possible fire in the downstairs unit with heat coming from the door. First due arrived at 11:03, sizing up a two-story, multi-family structure and stretched an 1 ¾ handline to the front door. Adjoining apartments suffered smoke damage and the American Red Cross assisted those displaced. The fire is under investigation.
