Grand Junction Structure Fire

At Approximately 19:25 on July 4th, 2020 Grand Junction Fire Department was dispatch with a full structure compliment for a commercial structure fire at 2691 Unaweep Avenue for a fire in the downstairs apartment. RP reporting male starting a fire in the living room. Truck 1 was first-in reporting a two story, multi family structure with nothing showing and investigating. Dispatch reported occupant having a weapon and law was enroute. Access was difficult due to the subject barricading himself inside the residence. All units staged in the area and Unaweep Avenue was shut down while crews investigated. No hazards were found, and the scene was left with the GJPD. The subject involved was known to law for starting fires in the area and had started a fire a few weeks prior adjacent to the property.
