La Junta Structure Fire

Just before midnight on January 22nd, 2020 La Junta Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the area of 27000 Hwy. 50. Upon arrival crews found a single wide mobile home fully engulfed threatening a second mobile home, and all occupants had escaped and accounted for. Engine 1 pulled two cross lays for an aggressive defensive attack and exposure control. Mutual-aid was called in from Rocky Ford Fire Department and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control DFPC. After the fire was controlled, extensive salvage and overhaul was performed and the investigation found the fire to be accidental in cause from a possible misuse of a space heater. Chief Davidson releases all crews back to service. No injuries reported. Additional information provided by La Junta Fire Department
