South Metro Furnace Fire

On November 3rd, 2021 at approximately 09:05 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in a townhome at 7282 E. Appleton Circle in Centennial. While en route, dispatched advised responding units that heavy black smoke was coming through the vents and that a repairman was on scene checking out the furnace. Firefighters arrived on scene and found a working fire in the home’s furnace. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and spent about thirty more minutes on scene checking for extension and ventilating the building. A resident was examined at the scene for smoke inhalation but was not transported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
