On June 14th , 2021 at 17:13 South Metro Fire Rescue and West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported garage fire in the 7300 block of S. Zephyr Way in unincorporated Jefferson County. Battalion Chief 1 enroute advised smoke in the air. Engine 13 arrived to a medium size two-story residential structure with a working garage fire, pulled a 2 1/2 line off of tank water for fire control and established their own water supply. Battalion Chief 1 arrived and assumed command, assigned Engine 19 to assist with the water supply, Medic 16 to pulled a 1 3/4 off Engine 13 for fire attack to the Bravo structure for protection, and Tower 18 for primary search. Engine 19 pulled another 1 3/4 off Engine 13 for interior attack and checked for extension. West Metro Engine 13 assigned as RIT, West Metro Medic 13 as medical group with Med 1 as rehab, and West Metro Engine 12 to Engine 13 with fire attack. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the garage area only with no extension into the home, and rescued two family cats from inside the structure. Crews started an extensive overhaul with extreme heat and the SMFR Fire Marshal started the investigation.
