West Metro Garage Fire

On January 6th, 2021 at 11:23 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a working residential structure fire in the area of 6500 W. Nevada Place in Lakewood. Engine 7 advised that they may need to lay in over 1000’ of supply line hose from the hydrant on S. Pierce St. and W. Nevada Place. Engine 7 arrived and secured the water supply and lay several hose reels in the road for possible supply to Engine 3. Engine 3 arrived on scene to a medium size one-story residential with a working garage fire and pulled a 1 3/4 hose for fire attack in the offensive strategy. District 2 arrived on scene and assumed Nevada command. Engine 1 assigned as RIT. Engine 3 was able to contain the fire to the garage and under under control, and Engine 7 held off on charging the long supply line. Crews remained on scene for ventilation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
