Oak Fire

On December 27th, 2021 at 14:18 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported vegetation fire in the area of 8600 block of S. Oak Circle. Jeffcom received several callers including possible 20 foot flames showing, and District 3 requested a working large brush fire response. Crews arrived and worked a fast moving wind driven grass fire threatening structures. Residents of two buildings at the Westerly Apartments were evacuated. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office also ordered evacuations for the Ken Caryl Valley. Two Strike Teams were requested and a single-engine air tanker made air drops over fire. CDOT closed eastbound C-470 from W. Ken Caryl Ave. to S. Kipling Parkway for several hours. Crews remained on scene over the night. No injuries were reported, no structurers burned, and the fire has burned 152 acres as of December 28th, 2021. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
