Orchard Mesa Chimney Fire

At 22:28 on November 20th, 2021 Grand Junction Regional Communication Center dispatched the Grand Junction Fire Department to a residential structure fire in the 2700 block of Sierra Vista Dr. for a chimney fire. Engine 4 arrived on scene to a tw0-story, single-family residence with fire and smoke from the roof, pulling a 1 3/4 line for fire attack, and laddering the roof in the offensive strategy. Ambulance 4 arrived and staged west of the incident on Sierra Vista Dr. Battalion 1 arrived right behind Engine 4 and assumed Sierra Vista Command, noting the water supply in front of the house. Engine 1 arrived within seconds of Battalion 1 and Engine 4, and assigned to check the attic for fire conditions. Crews located the fire in the chimney casing and brought the scene under control. The overhaul was complete with the help of Truck 6 which provided aerial operations. The fire was held to the area of the chimney and the family was able to stay in their home for the night.
