Pueblo County Brush Fire

Just after 14:30 on April 30th, 2021 Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Bureau (ESB) Fire team was dispatched to Mile Marker 1 on Hwy. 209, just outside of Boone for a brush fire. Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center received 911 callers reporting a small grass fire had started and was spreading into the trees. Pueblo County Sheriff D40 arrived on scene and sized up approximately an acre fire with a slow rate of spread. The fire was also burning multiple large cottonwood trees creating several hazards for responding crews. Mutual-aid was requested from multiple agencies and crews were on scene for several hours containing the fire and working on mitigating stubborn hot spots.
