Residential Structure Fire

On February 6th, 2022 at approximately 11:45 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at 3616 S. Idalia St. While en route, Engine 10 reported heavy smoke from several blocks away. Crews arrived on scene and found a working fire on the back side of the home. Engine 10 stretched a line to the rear of the residence while other crews conducted an interior search and opened the roof. Crews extinguished the fire fairly quickly then spent about thirty minutes checking for extension and ventilating the building. An 18-year old man was taken into custody at the scene by Aurora Police. He is charged with second degree arson and assault on a police officer. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, however, an Aurora police officer suffered minor injuries dealing with the arrestee and was treated at the scene by medics from Falck.
