South Adams Kitchen Fire

On March 12th, 2022 at 09:26 South Adams Fire Department Engine 21 was alerted to a waterflow alarm in an apartment building at 5659 Olive St. in Commerce City. Engine 21 arrived on scene to a three-story apartment complex with nothing showing and started the investigation. During the investigation, Engine 21 found smoke and active sprinklers, requested a full structure fire response and pulled a hand line to the 2nd floor for search and fire control. It was quickly discovered that a fire was in the kitchen area in one of the apartment unit and suppressed by the sprinkler system. The incident downgraded, and most the units enroute were cancelled. Crews remained on the scene for a short time to check for possible extension and to vent the apartment unit.
