West Metro Garage Fire

On September 20th, 2022 at 18:20 Jeffcom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue to a reported structure fire with heavy black smoke coming from the garage in the 1800 block of S. Saulsbury Court in Lakewood. Engine 8 arrived to a well involved garage fire extending into the house, pulled 2 1/2 for fire attack. District 2 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha-Delta corner in the offensive strategy. Engine 7 established the water supply to Engine 8. Tower 8 assigned with the primary search, Medic 7 pulled a 1 3/4 off Engine 8 and assisted Tower 8 with search. Engine 3 assigned as RIT and Medic 3 as medical. Engine 4 pulled another line to the Charlie side and started fire attack to the attic with Rescue 10. Crews got the fire put under control at 18:50 and started extender overhaul. The fire started in the garage and extended into the attic and smoke damage throughout the home. Radiant heat from the fire melted the vinyl siding on the house next door. The residents were home, unaware of the fire, when a neighbor knocked on their door to get them out. There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
