At 03:08 on July 19th, 2022 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire with smoke coming out of the building at 6203 W. Colfax Ave. in Lakewood with Jeffcom advising 911 caller reporting flames through the roof. Engine 1 arrived on scene to a two-story abandoned building with flames from the 2nd story roof and pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack and search in the offensive strategy with Medic 1 and Medic 11. Engine 2 arrived and pulled a 2nd line in on the Charlie side for fire attack with Tower 2 and Engine 3 secured the water supply to Engine 2. District 1 arrived and took command and assigned Engine 16 to secure a water supply to Engine 1. The fire was put under control at 03:29 and then firefighters started overhaul. The fire started in a ground floor unit, and extended to two other units on the second floor. The fire was at the Blue Sky Motel which has been closed for several months.
