Lakewood Vegetation Fire

At 14:17 on April 29th, 2022 West Metro Fire Rescue responded in the 14oo block of Oak St. in Lakewood for a reported vegetation fire next to the Oak Street Station Apartments under a red flag warning. Engine 2 arrived to a running fire and quick attack with the booster line in extremely windy conditions, and requested light rail to be shut down. Tower 2 arrived and worked on spot fires and Engine 1 and Engine 3 assisted Engine 2 with fire attack. District 1 arrived and assumed Oak command on the Alpha side in the offensive strategy. Crews got the fire quickly contained at 14:36 to a series of mulch beds, but embers were carried to the nearby neighborhood. After extinguishing the fire, firefighters checked nearby structures.
