West Metro Vegetation Fire

On June 25th, 2022 around 16:30 JeffCom dispatched West Metro Fire Rescue to a reported vegetation fire along the Clear Creek Trail. Engine 17 and Brush 17 arrived in the area and accessed the fire from Simms Court off W. 40th Circle with nothing showing and started the investigation. Wheat Ridge Police Officers arrived on the green belt at the red marker 4S to a grass fire in the open space southeast of Prospect Lake. Brush 17 found a slow moving grass fire in heavy timber, pulled a line in and started fire attack. Engine 9 and Brush 9 arrived and accessed from the trailhead off W. 41st Ave. and Youngfield St. District 2 arrived and assumed command on the districts side of Clear Creek, and requested a medic to the scene. The fire was put under control at 16:55 and crews started overhaul with hot spots. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by West Metro Fire Rescue
