Denver Fire Ops 101

On September 14th, 2023 Denver Firefighters Local 858 hosted Fire Ops 101 at the Denver Fire Department Training Center to provide elected and appointed officials hands-on opportunity to better understand the complexities and responsibilities that firefighters face daily. Fire Ops 101 was developed to allow participants the opportunity to experience the same heat & smoke, the same physical stressors, and the same adrenaline rush that firefighters routinely experience with hands-on experience of being a first responder, which is an effective way to help them understand the needed resources to deliver safe, effective, and efficient emergency services. Participants will come away with a better understanding of the need for firefighters to have safe & adequate staffing levels, state-of-the-art protective equipment & apparatus, and presumptive laws that protect our member’s health & safety.
