Juneteenth 2023

On June 17th, 2023 the Denver Fire Department, Denver Police Department, Aurora Police Department, Aurora Fire Rescue and Denver Sheriff’s Department all participated in the 2023 Juneteenth festival parade. The parade began at the Manual High School parking lot on W. 26th Ave. and Williams St. through W. 26th Ave. westbound to Downing St. in the Five Points neighborhood. The event brought a parade, music, and festivities for the community to honor the day which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans. Juneteenth marks the anniversary of General Order Number 3 by Union Army General Gordon Granger on June 19th, 1865, proclaiming freedom for slaves in Texas.
