Downtown Littleton 2nd Alarm Fire
South Metro 2nd Alarm Fire
At 00:17 on November 17th, 2023 South Metro Fire Rescue received multiple 911 callers that reported a building engulfed in flames on the northeast corner of Main St. and Prince St. in Littleton. Engine 11 and Medic 11 arrived, they found a three-story building under construction with a large volume of fire throughout the structure, extending into an occupied 4-story apartment building next door. A 2nd Alarm was immediately transmitted which brought additional apparatus and personnel to the scene. The adjacent apartment building is located at 5654 S. Prince St. and was evacuated by Littleton Police Officers while South Metro Firefighters deployed hose lines to control the flames. Aerial master streams were set up on Prince St. and Sycamore St. to extinguish the fire from above while several hose lines were used on the ground. Firefighters prevented fire extension into the adjacent apartment building and thankfully no injuries occurred. The incident was placed under control within 2 hours, and a thermal imaging UAV helped firefighters locate and extinguish hot spots. By 04:00 the neighboring apartment building was turned over to property management who worked with residents to reoccupy their homes. That building has 36 apartments and although flames did not spread inside, 6 of the units sustained water damage and their occupants will be displaced until dewatering and repairs are made. The South Metro Fire Marshal’s Office processed the scene and Investigators are unable to determine what caused the fire. American Red Cross was requested for assistance.
