On March 12th, 2023 at 17:26 West Metro Fire Rescue Tower 8 responded to a reported outside fire at Zephyr Court & W. Jewell Ave. in Lakewood. Jeffcom upgraded the call to a structure fire response with several 911 callers reporting a possible structure fire at a commercial building in the 8000 block of Jewell Ave. Tower 8 arrived to a small moving vegetation fire behind a commercial strip mall and the incident was changed to a small vegetation fire response. District 2 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Engine 3 arrived and secured the water supply with Medic 10. Engine 4 arrived and assisted Tower 8 with fire attack. Engine 9 and Brush 9 arrived and started fire attack. The fire was put under control quickly and crews started working on mop up. The cause is under investigation.
