West Metro House Fire

At 13:55 on October 9th, 2023 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a reported structure fire in the 5400 block of S. Vivian St. in Jefferson County. Jeffcom 911 advised 911 caller reporting fire from the roof and District 2 reported smoke showing from Alameda Parkway. Engine 12 arrived to a working fire from the roof under construction on a two-story single-family home, secured their own water supply off W. Arlington Ave. and pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack with Medic 12. Engine 11 pulled a 2nd line in off Engine 12 for fire attack, Rescue 10 started structure protection on nearby structures and Medic 10 as medical. Engine 13 started a primary search and Truck 14 set-up for aerial operations. District 3 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy and Engine 9 established a 2nd water supply. All interior searches checked clear and firefighters got the fire under control and crews started overhaul. The fire cause from West Metro Fire investigator determined the fire was accidental and caused by roofing construction that was going on at the time the fire ignited. The home had significant damage, consuming the majority of the roof, and there was smoke and water damage throughout the structure. No injuries were reported.
