
Parker Jordan Centennial Open Space Vegetation Fire
South Metro Vegetation Fire
On April 13th, 2023 just after 16:30 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported vegetation fire in the Jordan Centennial Open Space near 16357 E. Otero Ave. along the Cherry Creek Trail east of Jordan Rd. and south of Broncos Parkway in Arapahoe County. With dry / windy conditions and an active Red Flag Warning, a large firefighting response was dispatched. Upon arrival, a small slow-moving fire found burning in grass, leaf litter and extending into the trees. Using a combination of hose lines and hand tools firefighters quickly stopped forward progression of the fire and contained it to an area approximately a half-acre in size. Crews remained on scene for about 2-hours extinguishing hot spots. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. No structures were threatened and the fire burned about a half acre. The SMFR Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating what caused the fire. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
