On January 3rd, 2023 around 14:30 Huerfano Emergency Dispatch dispatched Huerfano County Fire Protection District, Upper Huerfano County Fire Protection District, La Veta Fire Protection District, Spanish Peaks Bon Carbo Fire Protection District & Spanish Peaks EMS to a structure fire at the Spanish Peaks Inn. Crew arrived to a single-story motel with heavy fire showing. Firefighters worked heavy fire conditions before getting it under control.
