2nd Alarm Apartment Fire

At 01:54 on November 29th, 2023 Thornton Fire Department and North Metro Fire Rescue District responded to a possible structure fire in the 10300 block of Woburn Keep with multiple callers reporting the building was on fire. Engine 63 arrived to a working fire from a large two-story garden level multi-family with fire showing from the 2nd floor and pulled a line with Medic 63. Battalion 62 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy with a major incident tone. Engine 71 secured the water supply to Engine 63 and Truck 62 went to the roof. Engine 73 assigned to pull a 2nd line to the 2nd floor with fire control and primary search and Medic 71 as medical. Command requested a 2nd alarm at 02:02. Crews made a quick attack on the fire and did rescue several pets from the main fire unit including a dog and a turtle. The fire was contained to the reported apartment, but surrounding apartments did receive smoke damage. The cause and origin of the fire is under investigation. One occupant was transported with unknown injuries to a local hospital. American Red Cross was requested with coordinating sheltering needs for occupants impacted by the fire.
