Arapahoe County Vegetation Fire

On July 31st, 2024 at approximately 18:25 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported vegetation fire at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds, 25690 E. Quincy Av. Dispatched advised responding units that they received reports of a small, slow moving brush fire with approximately five foot flames. Crews arrived on scene and found a fire about the size of a football field. Firefighters were on scene about forty five minutes extinguishing the fire and mopping up hot spots. Officials believe the fire was caused by kids igniting fireworks.
