South Metro Structure Fire

At 11:36 on February 21st, 2024 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire in the 7400 block of S. Kit Carson St. in Arapahoe County. A large volume of smoke was visible throughout the area and upon arrival, firefighters from Ladder 12 encountered flames consuming the rear of the home. An aggressive attack by firefighters kept property loss isolated to the rear of the structure, and the fire was declared under control within 24 minutes. SMFR Investigators determined the fire started outside on the back patio, and the exact cause of the fire remains under investigation. Two adult occupants and a cat safely evacuated from the home.
