Aspen Apartment Fire

At 05:14 on March 26th, 2024 the Pitkin County Regional Emergency Dispatch Center dispatched the Aspen Fire Protection District and Aspen Ambulance District to the 600 block of South West End St. for a possible structure fire. Initial updates advised in coming units there was smoke coming from an apartment from the upper floor. First arriving units reported a three-story multi-family condominium complex with smoke showing. Crews began aggressive offensive operations and contained the fire to the chimney chase, preventing extension into the adjacent condominiums. Mutual aid was then requested from Roaring Fork Fire Rescue Authority and Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District. Aspen Police Department and Pitkin County Sheriff’s Department also responded and provided assistance with evacuation. Once the fire was extinguished crews remained on scene performing mop up and overhaul. No injuries were reported and the fire is under investigation by the Aspen Fire Protection District.
