Aurora 2nd Alarm Structure Fire
On July 12th, 2024 at approximately 14:50 Aurora Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire at The Preserve at City Center Apartments, 1039 S. Fairplay Way. Heavy black smoke could be scene from around the city. Crews arrived on scene and found heavy smoke coming from the roof and fire in the attic. Firefighters were on scene several hours battling the blaze, checking for extension and mopping up. One firefighter was treated on scene for heat exhaustion in the 102 degree temperature. No other injuries were reported. Twenty three units were damaged and approximately fifty people were displaced. The American Red Cross was called to assist. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
