Bennett Large Grass Fire

On August 16th, 2024 at 12:15 Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue and the I-70 corridor fire departments responded to a large brush fire at Schumaker Rd. and I-70. Battalion 91 arrived to a 2 acre grass fire moving slow in medium fuels and assumed command. Brush Engine 91 and Brush 93 arrived and started with fire attack on the north division of the fire with Chief 92. Brush Engine 92 started on fire attack on the south division with Chief 91. Tender 92 and Tender 91 arrived and started the water supply. Brush 41 and Brush Engine 81 arrived and worked on the south division. Crews got the fire under control within an hour and started with on overhaul with hot spots. The fire burned 15 acres. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Additional information provided by Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue
