Byers Weed Fire

On July 12th, 2024 at 11:58 Byers Fire Protection District with the I-70 corridor fire departments responded to a weed fire on Rector Leader Rd. & E. 56th Ave. Chief 71 arrived to about 5 acres burning and moving slowly to the east in heavy fuels. Crews were able to get the fire under control quickly and the rest of the response was cancelled. Crews worked on an extended overhaul on hot spots. No structures were lost and the cause is under investigation.
