South Metro Residential Fire

On June 5th, 2024 at approximately 15:23 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a reported residential structure fire in the 6800 block of S, Franklin St. in Centennial. Dispatched advised that bushes between two homes were burning. Battalion Chief 2 arrived on scene and observed that the fire spread to both residences. Due to the size of the fire and the 90 degree temperatures, a 2nd alarm was called. Crews were on scene several hours extinguishing the fire and conducting overhaul. One person was treated on scene for smoke inhalation and a firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. The firefighter is expected to be okay. Fire investigators believe that a resident burning debris accidentally started the fire.
