South Metro Garage Fire
On January 10th, 2024 at 07:40 South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to reported residential structure fire in the 5500 block of S. Mobile St. in Centennial. Engine 22 arrived on scene to a two-story single-family with a working fire from the garage and possible extension into the area above the garage, pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and secured their own water supply. Battalion Chief 5 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side in the offensive strategy. Engine 42 arrived and assigned to pulled a 2nd line off Engine 22 with a primary search on the first floor and Medic 42 to the 2nd floor with search. Medic 23 assigned with medical and . No extension into the main living area and the primary searches were all-clear. Crews found two vehicles in the garage with one electric vehicle on fire which was pulled out onto the driveway and an EV fire blanket was used to control the vehicle fire. No injuries have occurred and the Hazardous Materials Team was also scene along with mutual aid from Aurora Fire Rescue. The smoldering vehicle and a hybrid vehicle that was damaged during the fire were safely transported to a safe location in Parker, both were electric vehicles. SMFR investigators determined the fire started in a 2019 Jaguar I-PACE. Additional information provided by South Metro Fire Rescue
