Deer Trail Residential Structure Fire

On August 22nd, 2024 at 05:20 Deer Trail Rural Fire Protection District with the I-70 corridor fire departments including Bennett-Watkins Fire Rescue, Byers Fire Protection District, Sable Altura Fire Rescue and Strasburg Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire on 1st St. in Deer Trail. Crews arrived to a fully engulfed structure and were able to extinguish the fire relatively quickly with fire damage contained to the initial structure. The home sustained substantial damage and one animal perished. All the occupants of the residence and other animals were able to escape safely without injuries.
