On March 13th, 2024 at 13:56 Denver Fire Department was dispatched to a reported structure fire at 1600 E. Colfax Ave. Upon arrival, initial reports stated fire showing from the rear of an abandoned house. Crews encountered obstacles gaining access to the structure since the building was boarded up. Due to reports of holes in the floor and the potential for a wind driven event command ordered crews to fight the fire from the outside. Truck crews were needed to cut access and ventilation holes to allow for the master streams to effectively penetrate into the structure. Crews worked the fire from spreading to additional structures. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries were reported. Additional information provided by Denver Fire Department
