Federal Heights Structure Fire
Around 16:18 on February 19th, 2024 Federal Heights Fire Department with Adams County Fire Rescue, Westminster Fire Department and Thornton Fire Department responded in a apartment complex located in the 1300 block of W. 84th Ave. in Federal Heights. Engine 41 arrived to a two-story apartment complex with heavy dark smoke showing and active fire, pulled attack line to the 2nd floor for fire control and primary search with Medic 41. Engine 41 secured their own water supply and Engine 11 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 41 to the fire unit with Engine 72. Battalion 72 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy. Crews found fire in the attic space and and Truck 2 went to the roof and started vertical ventilation. Command requested a 2nd alarm at 16:50. Engine 41 lost all pressure and Engine 11 was assigned to pump the fire. Engine 41 pulled a line off Engine 11 to the first floor and checked for extension and Medic 11 was assigned as rehab. Engine 1 pulled a line to the Charlie-Delta side and checked for extension. The fire was put under control and crews started overhaul. The incident was confined to Building # 7, home to 14 units. All residents were safely evacuated and received support from both the apartment complex management and the American Red Cross. with more then 20 occupants displaced.
