South Metro 2nd Alarm Fire

On September 12th, 2024 at 14:33 South Metro Fire Emergency Communications Center dispatched South Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a residential structure fire in the 10200 block of Woodrose Lane in Highlands Ranch. Tower 18 arrived to a two-story single-family home fully involved with fire spreading to a second home and a 2nd alarm was dispatched due to the fire spreading to a second home in Red Flag weather conditions. Between the two homes there were 6 occupants with 3 dogs and a cat that were all able to safely evacuate with the help of Douglas County Sheriff’s Deputies. Fire was determined to be under control at 15:01 with extensive overhaul of both homes. Cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation by the SMFR Fire Marshall’s office, initial reports stated the fire started outside and spreading to the two homes. Fire Medics on scene treated 2 civilians and 2 firefighters for minor heat related issues, one firefighter was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
