West Metro Structure Fire
At 0:44 on August 14th, 2024 West Metro Fire Rescue was dispatched to a possible structure fire in the 4700 block of S. Ward Way in Jefferson County. Jeffcom advised several callers reporting fire on back porch with the family dog missing, and Jeffco Sherriff deputies reporting flames showing on arrival and neighboring house also in danger with extension. Engine 12 arrived to a medium size two-story single-family residents with a fully involved on the Charlie side including a fence and a Delta exposure, pulled a 1 3/4 for fire attack and Medic 12 pulled a 1 3/4 from Engine 12 to the front door and first floor for fire attack and the primary search. Engine 12 secured their own water supply and Rescue 10 assisted with fire attack on the Charlie side. Engine 11 arrived and assigned to protect the Delta exposure and Medic 10 setup with the medical. Engine 13 with RIT and District 3 arrived and took command in the offensive strategy. Truck 14 arrived and went to the roof. Crews got control of the fire and started overhaul and the investigation. The residents were sleeping at the time of the fire and their dog woke them up. They were able to get out, however the dog is still missing.
