Littleton West Polk Place Structure Fire
South Metro Structure Fire
On August 28th, 2024 at 01:23 South Metro Fire Rescue and West Metro responded to a reported structure fire in the 8000 block of W. Polk Place in Littleton. South Metro Fire Emergency Communications advised Safety 1 that video feed showing active flames and the call was upgraded to a confirmed residential structure fire. Engine 13 arrived to a two-story residential with a working fire with heavy flames from the Charlie side and pulled a 2 1/2 for fire attack in the offensive strategy. Engine 12 arrived and secured the water supply and Engine 19 assisted with fire attack to the Alpha side with a 1 3/4 from Engine 13. District 3 arrived and assumed command with crews reporting defensive operations. Tower 18 arrived and assigned to pulled another line off Engine 13 and start aerial operations. A 2nd water supply was established as crews worked heavy fire conditions. The fire brought under control at 02:04 and crews started a extensive overhaul. Two occupants present in the residence evacuated safely and were examined by fire medics, both individuals declined medical assistance and were supported by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Victim Assistance and the American Red Cross to meet their immediate needs. The SMFR Fire Marshal’s office determined the cause of the fire was to be accidental, attributed to an unattended candle left on a table in the backyard under a covered patio.
