
Lakewood South Reed Street Structure Fire
West Metro Structure Fire
On May 18th, 2024 at 05:17 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire in the 1100 block of S. Reed St. in Lakewood. Engine 7 reported heavy smoke from the station and Jeffcom advised that multiple callers reporting two vehicles under a garage were on fire. Engine 7 arrived to a working fire from a two-story townhome with a fully involved carport extending into the structure to the 2nd floor and pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack with Medic 7. Engine 8 secured the water supply and assisted with the primary search with Tower 8 and Medic 8 as medical. District 2 arrived and assumed command in the offensive strategy and a second water supply was established before the fire was put under control at 05:41. Firefighters were able to rescue a missing cat out of the debris and administer oxygen treatment for smoke inhalation. The cat was taken to a family vet to get checked out by it’s owners.
