
Lakewood Union Blvd Denny’s Restaurant Fire
West Metro Restaurant Fire
On July 16th, 2024 at 06:14 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire at the Denny’s, 565 Union Blvd. in Lakewood. Jeffcom received multiple callers reporting fire from the roof and a possible grease fire. Engine 2 arrived to Denny’s with smoke showing from the roof with evacuations and started fast attack in the offensive strategy and Tower 2 went to the roof. Engine 3 secured the water supply to Engine 2 and then pulled a line to the Alpha side. Engine 2 found a fire in the kitchen area and Engine 4 assisted with fire attack. District 2 arrived and assumed command and Tower 2 found active fire on the roof around the hood vent. Engine 6 pulled a 1 3/4 line from Engine 2 to the roof for Tower 2. The fire was put under control and crews worked on overhaul. The fire started in the kitchen as an accidental grease fire and then quickly extended into the attic, causing extensive damage to the kitchen and to the attic space above the restaurant.
