West Metro Garage Fire

On July 6th, 2024 at 18:32 West Metro Fire Rescue responded to a possible structure fire  in the 9500 block of W. Maryland Drive in Lakewood. Jeffcom advised fire from an attached garage and possibly spreading into to the home. Engine 8 arrived to a working garage fire from a small two-story single-family residents and pulled 1 3/4 for fire attack with Medic 8. Engine 8 reported all occupants out of the structure and secured their own water supply. Tower 8 started the primary search and Engine 7 pulled a 2nd line to the garage. Engine 3 assigned as RIT and Medic 2 as medical. District 2 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha-Bravo corner in the offensive strategy. Rescue 10 arrived and started forcible entry on the garage door. Firefighters were able to find a scared family kitty hiding and was reported ok. The fire was put under control at 18:48 and crews worked on an extended overhaul.  The fire did extensive damage to the garage and the vehicle parked inside. There was some smoke damage inside the home, but the fire was isolated to the garage. The cause of the fire is under investigation and no injuries.
